Where to Begin?
Where to begin? Well, My name is Marie and I have a wonderful husband named Shaun. We've been married for 3 years this coming December, but together for much longer than that.
Of course it all began even before we started dating in high school. I was *so* in love with him from as long as I can remember however... he liked my best friend. My best friend had a boyfriend and was tagging them both along, so finally I had enough. As it turns out in the long run Shaun and I ended up together and were instantly attached at the hip. It didn't take long for us to go farther than either of us had planned. But what did it matter. I absolutely knew that I was going to marry him!
It didn't surprise me in October of 2000 when one night after having sex I had the feeling that I was pregnant right away. I never did take a pregnancy test because I insisted that I was right and surprisingly everybody just believed me. Shaun's mom took it much harder than mine did, whisking him away to the Pastor's house for the next week while she recovered from the shock. My parents were fine. I told my dad and he told my mom who, although a little disappointed was overall happy and supportive of me. Liam Brennan was born July 27th 2001, weighing 7 pounds 13 ounces I turned 17 that September. Pretty soon I had that familiar pregnant feeling and Aidan Patrick was born April 9, 2003 - 8 pounds 5 ounces and Makenzie Marie was born February 23, 2006 - 8 pounds 9 ounces.
My Life as A Young Parent
So I was a teen parent and at 22 years old am still a young parent - what do I have to be proud of? Well to start, I finished high school ahead of schedule. Liam was born in July and I went back to highschool in September graduating a semester ahead of schedule with honours. Aidan was born the April following me graduating and that September I began University taking a nursing course. I never did finish nursing - I found that I am not cut out to be a nurse and I went to work in the retail world, which I found out that I loved. I worked my way up to store manager and have recently decided to finish school, taking courses to become a midwife. What about Shaun? Shaun also finished highschool and continued on to college to obtain his Police Foundations diploma and is working in law enforcement.
The Kids? Well of course the kids are fabulous. Liam started kindergarten last year and is a Senior Kindergartner this year. He loves it and is at the top of his class, reading short books to us and constantly trying to spell new words and teach himself different types of math skills. Aidan is not so much the sit and learn type of child although he is excited to be starting kindergarten next year, and loving spending time with me on while I'm on Parental leave this year. Both of the boys are loving and kind, polite and respectful. Makenzie is the perfect princess, spoiled by everyone, and happy as can be. I can't wait to see what each new day brings with all my children and could not be more content with the way that my life turned out.
Anything else? Not that I can think of... but you know, life is like a book - a beginning, middle, and end. And I am right smack dab in the middle of my book/life.
